It's Maggie here with my take on the fantastic Alphabet journal kit!
All of the supplies for my journal came from the November Handmade kit... it was so easy to just put the album together by pulling out supplies from the kit. There's even the exclusive fabRip included in Handmade that I used for the binding.
It's so easy to pair the journals with the kits. You'll definitely be inspired by the upcoming December kits with the SC journals for December Daily albums so be sure to keep an eye out this month!

Hey everyone! Kinsey here to share a little bit about my Studio Calico woodgrain journal...as you probably already know, SC makes a woodgrain version (about 4 x 8 inches) and one with an alpha cover (about 5 x 5) and both come with about 60 gummed pages with that SC grid -that we all love and adore- on both sides of each sheet.
I had so many ideas for both of the journals that I had a tough time choosing what I wanted to use them for! Endless possibilities...but ended up going with a design team organization system that I love. I've been using my planning binder for everything design team related and it's just too cumbersome for quick refererence so this is the perfect solution.
I decorated the cover really simply because I didn't want it to be bulky but I did want it to be cute...
I used a gloss acrylic paint, aptly and coincidentally named "barnwood", ha! I also used a chipboard tag, chipboard butterfly, veneer butterfly, and fabrips for the binding. The chipboard covers on the journals are thick (which I love) and I knew that I wanted to stitch the fabrips down for extra stability so I busted out the power tools- well, if you consider the dremel a power tool...I used a super tiny bit to drill the stitching holes and then sewed everything into place.
For the inner pages, I decided to keep it pretty simple as well. I'm using the small month stamps from the pint add on (mind the gap- July kit), to stamp the month at the top of each page as I go. The pages on the top will be that month's title page and will include my order for that month's kits and shop items as well as a check list of all of my deadlines.
Prior to this journal, I made my lists on random scraps of paper that always managed to make their way into a garbage can and I would kick myself for misplacing them...no longer! It is so nice to have a quick reference to look back at so that I make sure not to double order something.
The rest of the sheets throughout the month will be formatted just like this...I'll print a thumbnail of each layout and include a supply list underneath, notes about any techniques used, and also publication/submission info. This makes the submission process so. much. easier!
For the square, alpha journal, I'll be using that for SC kit info (pics of each main kit and add ons with supply lists). I've been wanting to make something like this for several months- someone had mentioned it a while back on the message boards and I added it to my to do list and well...it must've been one of those lists that ended up in the trash, ha! I'm not quite finished with that one yet but I'll be sure to post pics in the gallery soon!
Have you gotten your SC journals yet?! I can't wait to see how everyone uses their's because the options are endless!
Thanks so much for hanging out with me today!

Hi SC'ers! I am happy to share with you one of my favorite products from the Studio Calico line-embossed mini albums! I love that they are totally customizable to any color with Mister Huey's or with your favorite ink pads!
On my cover I sprayed three layers of mist ( Gable Green, Shine and Calico White). I am still loving butterflies, especially our mister heuy's butterfly masks! I love how you can see the embossed pattern inside of the larger butterfly, adds an additional area of interest and a nice gradient of color.
I like to pre-make minis for upcoming trips so that it is easier to place photos and memorabilia into the minibook post trip and makes the minibook making process quicker and less tedious. I have a few of those type pages here where journaling, pattern paper, photos and titles can be easily added later because most of the base of the book is already done for you. Once all of my pages are done I will punch two holes along the left side holes and add jump rings to it to bind it together. These minibooks can be bind with a variety of SC fabrips as well.
Products used: Calico Diecut Paper; Mister Huey's; Autumn Press Chipboard Alpha; Autumn Press Chipboard Butterflies; White Gel Pen
I hope you enjoyed this additional peek at our new journals and will give them a try soon!

We thought an idea this cute needed it's own adjective. Whether you create a personalized journal, a fun notepad, or a one of a kind mini album the new Studio Calico journal kits make it fun and easy. Not only are they versatile, they are simply adorable!
We're going to showcase the new journals here on the blog for Journalicious Week. We've got lots of journals from the Design Team to share. I created this one using the new woodgrain journal.
I love these new journals Studio Calico has put out. They are so perfect for just adding little bits and pieces of things, and documenting as you go. I decided to create a journal housing images of home decorating ideas that I've found on Pinterest. It's a great way to keep me inspired and keep me motivated to actually do some of these things. I love that I can add to it as I go, and there are a TON of pages in these journals so I won't run out of room anytime soon.
