Weekly Challenge

The challenge for this week is to use packaging on your layout! I love the cover sheets on the Studio Calico paper packs and have been saving them to use for a layout!
I used the Autumn Press one for this layout. I cut the silhouette out of it, the e, and I punched all of the circles from it! It's a great way to use up the packaging and stretch your supplies!! I am also always using the packaging from the Studio Calico stamps and embellishments because they are a thicker weight and they are great to use for journaling spots and to punch shapes from!

You can use any type of packaging for your layout and you can use it any way you like! When you post your layout be sure to tell us which part of it is from the packaging so that we can tell! Challenge

Hello everyone! Celine here to challenge you this week!
Supplies: Asterisks (Autumn Press); Labels (Memoir); Houses (Memoir); Plano (Classic Calico); Die Cut Tags (Classic Calico); Chipboard Butterflies (Classic Calico); Kraft stars (Classic Calico); Alpha Stickers (Autumn Press); Rose Bud (Autumn Press); Bundle (Autumn Press); Label Stickers (Autumn Press); Butterflies stickers (Autumn Press)

I've been inspired to create tiny collages as embellishments these days and I truly encourage you (I mean, CHALLENGE YOU!) to create your own! Don't be scared : it's easier than it seems! Simply pick a bunch of small embellishments that you like. Here, I chose Studio Calico chipboard and veneer embellies and added stickers, fabric, felt and sewed everything together!

Work on a small surface : a tag, a chipboard, an ATC. Then glue, punch, sew, paint, mist : it's easy, fast and looks great in the end! What you can do is create several collages like this and pick the ones you wanna use on your layout later on!

On my layout, I simply glued the ones that I created and have a bunch left, for future projects!
Those small collages bring interest, depth and texture to any project : cluster them all together and you won't need much on your layout!

Weekly Challenge

Hello SC friends! Kelly here with this week's challenge! When I was trying to come up with a challenge, I was perusing Pinterest for inspiration and decided that would be the perfect challenge. Everyone is inspired by something....an ad, a pattern, a song, etc. So for this week's challenge, I want you to be inspired by something (or someone!) and make a layout based on your inspiration piece. Supplies:Autumn Press Tags, Flower Bed Paper, Wallpaper Paper, Memoir Chip Buttons, Kraft Border Stickers, Plano Paper, Classic Calico Chipboard Alpha

I absolutely fell in love with the graphic numbers along the left side of the card and knew immediately that's what I wanted to recreate on my layout. I used my Silhouette to cut out all the numbers in varying sizes, then arranged them randomly along the left side of my layout. I love the way it turned out and even though it doesn't look much like the inspiration piece, it was a fun way to be inspired.

I made this page in 8 by 8 and I love totally this size ! it's really fast and the result may surprise you.  It doesn't mean few embellishments and few papers, you can put as much as you want, everything will be a matter of size. Or you can just work on a little detail. The choice is yours!

Weekly Challenge

We're bringing back a special feature for this week's challenge.  We challenged two of our awesome  members, Corinne Smilovici (corinne) and Jennifer Chapin (jenrn) to sift through each others galleries and lift two layouts.  They both created new projects using the October Field Guide kit.  Here's what they came up with:
This happy layout from Jen inspired Corinne to create a fun patterned paper background for her own page.

Corinne says that Jen used bright colors to really enhance the black & white photos on this layout, so she lifted that same idea.  Love both these layouts!

Play Outside was inspired by this layout from Corinne.  Jen flipped the sketch on its side to create her page.

Jen created this card based off of Corinne's layout here - now that's a great design!

So this week we're challenging you take a cue from Corinne & Jen's fabulous work and lift a friend from the member gallery!  Be sure to link us up to your posted layout here and include your inspiration piece.  Have fun!

Weekly Challenge

Now that you've seen what our design team has made for Operation Write Home, we'd love to challenge YOU to make a card and send it in! Their deadline for Christmas cards has already passed, but they are looking for cards for ALL other occasions. Before you send your card off, snap a photo of it and send it to [email protected]. November's guest designer, Danielle Flanders provides the inspiration for this week's challenge!

She created this gorgeous card using the exclusive stamp from the Thimble add-on, so we're going to challenge you to create a layout or card using a SC kit stamp.  This can be any stamp that you've purchased in a main kit or add-on kit over the years.  Dig into your stash and pull out your favorites!

Remember this little guy?
Each member of the Design Team created a layout for their October Field Guide gallery based on an inspiration from Pinterest.  You can see a lot of their inspiration pieces on their blogs and all the layouts are still on display in the gallery.

Challenge

Hi everyone!  It's Susan today, bringing you the weekly challenge.  I'm adapting this week's challenge off of a variety of techniques that I used on one of my cards in the October Field Guide Gallery - "Hello There".


To create this card, I did a LOT of "altering" to the focal point of the card - the wood veneer doily.  I misted the wood with brand new Mister Huey's Heirloom Blue & Calico Shine, and then dried with my heat gun.  Once dry, I applied embossing ink to the doily, and covered with clear Zing! and heat embossed.  Finally, I took a button from the kit, flipped it over, and then used one of the Crate Paper fabric brads also in the kit - snipped off the back "brad attacher" portion of the brad, and glued it to the upside down button (to create my flower/doily center).

And so - my challenge for all of you is to create a CARD this week with the focal point of the card being something that you ALTERED!  Distress, Emboss, Ink, whatever!  Just make sure that something is altered.  The more it's altered - the better!  Can't wait to see what you all make...
