I love the little polaroid frames in the new collections. I think
they're such a neat way to highlight little photos. And I LOVE little
photos. For this layout I took out the frames from the Wonderland
collection and decided to use them all lined up on a page.
(supplies: patterned paper- Studio Calico Wonderland Mistletoe, Sleigh Ride, Jingle, Tree Farm, Snowdrift and Glad Tidings; frames- Wonderland; die-cut title and tree- Wonderland; wood veneer- Wonderland; twine- divine twine; other- tag)
To break things up a little bit I reversed one of the polaroid frames so that it was just white and then trimmed off the little snowflake that was on there. I didn't want to have so many competing colors on my page. I also placed my journaling in between the frames to separate the photos a bit.
I used the word "christmas" that was already on the frame and combined with the the "magic" die-cut from the ephemera pack to make my title.
I'd love to see how you've used the Wonderland Die Cut Frames - link me up to your projects in the comments!

With the holidays approaching, it is time to start thinking about gifts for loved ones. Most of the time I end up giving gift cards. They are easy to give, and the person receiving get to pick out just what they want. That's a win-win in my book! But since the gift cards themselves are not that personal, I like to take the time to dress them up to let the person on the receiving end know that how special they are, even if the gift card isn't necessarily so. For December's Tips & Tricks, I am going to show you some fun ways to make gift cards just a little more special.

At the end of last week, we shared three inspiring tutorials from Maile Belles, Nicole Samuels and Kelly Noel. This week, we want you to give one of those techniques a try.
It's your choice - you can stamp on patterned paper like Maile, recolor your stamp brushes like Nicole, or create a diecut background like Kelly. We can't wait to see what you make!
Create a project using one of these techniques, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Leave us a link to your project by December 3rd in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 GC to the Studio Calico Shop.

This week's sketch comes from Geralyn Sy's SOCK HOP gallery - and is based on her layout titled "Paper Love."
We were excited to see how Julie (juleshollis) interpreted the sketch for herself, and it looks fabulous!
Supplies: Sock Hop, Poodle Skirt, Penny Loafers
Here is what Julie had to say about this particular sketch:
I love playing with sketches and approach them as recipe for a project. For this sketch, I really wanted to use a favorite picture. The picture that I chose of my husband and son is vertical, so I decided to turn the sketch sideways. I didn't stray too far away from the sketch in terms of design. I used the November kit - Sock Hop with two papers from Penny Loafers (the red hearts) and from Poodle Skirt (the yellow triangles). My favorite way to make little banner pieces is to fold washi tape in half and then snip the end piece at angle. I love how this sketch helped me create lots of layers.
We love that all of Julie's elements draw your attention to the beautiful photo of her family, and the repetition of the 'flags'...what a great idea to use washi tape!
Please check out the rest of Julie's work in her SC Gallery and on her blog. How will YOU use this sketch? Whether it's a layout, a card or something else, link us up to your project by December 3rd for a chance to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico shop. (Please remember, your project must be loaded into our gallery to qualify...and your comment has to link back to it in the SC Gallery)
