Hi everyone. Marcy Penner here with a peek into my Project Life Album... and more specifically... how I used Studio Calico kits and printables on my weekly pages.
I tend to fill up my pockets with a lot of journaling and photos. Other than that I gravitate towards little bits and washi. Quick and easy. For this week I took out my Central High kits and add-ons, extra die-cuts I had left over (most notably the labels and tabs) and printed off fresh sheets of the printables. I used a LOT of these.
(Supplies: kits- Central High, Style Guide, Capital Avenue, Road Show; die-cuts - labels , tabs; ticket - My Mind's Eye; mist - taxi, leaf; staples - tiny attacher; ink - versafine onyx, prima ladybug, prima rock moss; pen - American Crafts; date stamp - Dear Lizzy)
I started by filling up my pockets with photos and popping in journaling cards (between the two printables this past month I had four journaling cards) where I needed. From there is was just a matter of embellishing.
Often... as I did in the first pocket... I'll fit in two photos. I like white borders around my photos, so I've discovered that if I print my vertical photos 2.75x3.75 they'll either fit two in a 4x6 perfectly... or if I change my mind on placement they fit perfectly into the 3x4 pockets.
The die cuts worked great to layer when I had only a little space to
work with. Thicker embellishments add a lot of bulk and cause the
pockets to pucker so this was a great way to add interest with the extra
weight. They are my favorite way to embellish my photos and journaling
cards.
The arrow washi in the Style Guide add-on
is one of my favs. I trimmed off three of the arrows and added it to
my photo. I love that it looks like I used a photoshop brush on my
pictures.
I had to try really hard to not put the mistable arrows in every pocket. Love those!
Using a kit to complete my Project Life week made everything look cohesive. That's hard to do when all your photos are individual moments. I LOVE how it turned out. I'm going to make it a point to dig out kits for future weeks.
