Happy Monday! Emily here with the Weekly Challenge for you. Sometimes you don't have the right picture to tell your story, but sometimes you need to tell the story anyway. This month celebrates our family's 6th year of living in Colorado. Since my husband and I have been married (almost 19 years!), we've never lived in a place this long, he's been in graduate school and post-doc training, which means moves, lots of moves. Six years in one place is huge, and I wanted to document this accomplishment, but how do I get a picture of that? I could have taken a photo of our home, but there's really so much more to it than that. So I created a layout without a photo. Instead I put together a scene using corrugated and chipboard shapes from this month's Paper Lanterns add on and the Partly Cloudy April kit. Add in some Studio Calico manufacturing things and I have the perfect way to capture my thoughts about setting down roots.
My challenge to you this week is to scrap a story that doesn't have a photograph. You can create a scene like I did, or just journal and title. One of my favorite layouts ever is one Laura did way back when she was a HOFer. It was an apology to her parents for not practicing an instrument in high school. There are stories that need to be told, this is the week to do that! Supplies: Diecut cardstock - Studio Calico Blue Topographical, patterned paper - Studio Calico Midway, Alphabet - Studio Calico Tan Alphabet Stickers, Label Sticker - Studio Calico 6x6 Labels in Cream, Wood Veneer - Studio Calico Hearts, Phrase Sticker - Studio Calico State Fair Label Stickers, Corrugated Shapes - Jillibean Soup, Chipboard Shape - Maya Road, Embossing Powder - American Crafts in Mustard and White, Spray Ink - Mister Huey in Pickle, Stamps - Studio Calico Notebook Journaling lines, Ink - JBS Cough Syrup ink, Paint - Claudine Hellmuth Studios in Painterly Pink, Twine - Divine Twine, Border Punch - Martha Stewart, pen - Micron, Adhesive - American Crafts This to That Foam Squares, Quick Dry Glue by Scotch 3M.
Post your challenge by Monday, May 9 for your chance to win a SC giftcard!

We so often shy away from these special stories just because we don't have pictures.

FANTASTIC! I wish i could print like you!!!! you should make a font of your writing...there is a website that does that for free, but i can't think of what it's called. anyway....i'm sure you've gotten this compliment countless times, but it bears repeating!

I've had this page in my head for a few weeks, so this was a good excuse to get it done! I used one of the sketches from Kelly's Sketchbook class:

Created my page in 6 parts for a divided page protector. Not using a photo worked well with my journaling as it is about the future.
