Hi everyone!! Sasha here with a brand new, never seen before, Singin' In The Rain layout. I made this layout from whatever happened to be on my table after I'm done with my gallery layouts. Yes, this kit is that fabulous, and is right up there on my list together with Into The Woods. I love, I repeat, I love creating with Studio Calico kits. Seriously, when you are given such fabulous selection of products, your only job was to play! So play I did.
Supplies: Singin In The Rain kit; Moses Supposes kit; Tap Dance kit; Emma's Shoppe Layered chip - Crate Paper; Stella & Rose Brads - My Mind's Eye; Die-Cutting System - Slice; Tiny Attacher - Tim Holtz
I love that I'm able to use stuff I like, but may have overlooked or simply doesn't fit in the other layouts I made from this kit.
Like these little stylish stickers from Moses Supposes. They're so cute and I love the fact that they somewhat connect to the layout of my daughter growing up at the speed of light. *Mommy is in denial. LOL*
Then I needed some yellow and decided to cut two same sized swirls using my Slice and layered them. They're both yellow, but with different pattern - from the same double-sided paper. I like the subtle hint of something else underneath that top swirl. The metal buttons and brads? They represent my girl, where she is at right now, with her slightly grunge style. Interesting one I have on my hand! LOL.
So there, when you think you're done with a kit, think again.. look again. You might just be inspired all over, for the second time. This was what happened to me. I still have Singin' In The Rain on my table, and after this layout, I can 'see' a couple more to be made. And I thought I was done. I love getting inspired, don't you?
My friend Nik made another new layout to share today too...
Hi everyone, Nik H. here... I coudn't quite put away my Singin' in the Rain kit, so whipped up this fun layout with my 'leftovers'!!
Supplies: Singin' in the Rain Kit, Tap Dance add-on, Make 'Em Laugh add-on, Epiphany 14mm Button Tool, 14mm Button Accessories, Apricot Zing, Mustard Zing, Aqua Zing, VersaMark Ink, Pickle Mister Huey, Heat Tool, Zig Embossing Pen
I fell with the colors in this kit. Anytime you pair red with a bright yellow, I'm a fan!! The green in the sweater I have on in the photo (plus in Greg's tie lol) prompted me to grab my Pickle Mister Huey and cover the chipboard word from the Make 'Em Laugh add-on to use as my title. The strip of rectangles along the bottom was made with a punch that I've had for awhile, and reach for all the time when i have lots of 'busier' paper bits that may overwhelm each other if I were to use them in larger pieces.
I'm late to the banner craze (haha), but since finding this super easy way to make my own with a punch I already had in my stash, I'm hooked!! Now onto a fun way to use that Zing Embossing Powder with those Zig Embossing Pens that are new to the shop!
I used the fine tip of the pen and one of the buttons from the Main Kit... just coloring in a few of the flowers on the button. Then I sprinkled some Aqua Zing onto it, carefully brushed off the excess with a fine bristled brush and set it with my heat tool. VOILA!! A neat way to accent buttons you have PLUS another way to use the Zing!
On the green button, I ran my Zig pen around the edge before adding some Apricot Zing.
And on the pale blue button, I filled the INSIDE of the button with the pen and added Mustard Zing.
I used my metal paper piercer to hold the buttons down (one at a time) while using my heat tool... DON'T BURN YOUR FINGERS!! I just stuck the pointy end of the piercer into one of the button holes and that way my hands were out of the way :)
Hope this gives you a few ideas on how to use up your kits AND think outside the box with you shop supplies!!
Wow... Girls - you ROCK!
