Hey everyone! Sasha is here with you today!
I thought I'd show you how I usually scrap and also how I get even sized grids like I did on this layout from my Napa Valley gallery, without the use of ruler or measuring tape or anything like that.
I saw this gifts catalogue from my local Starbucks and immediately wanted to use the tagline as my title. This is why we scrapbook, right? We're sharing stories. And I decided to use these old photos of my mom and girls spending an afternoon together. My mom loves telling stories, no doubt they're usually about me and embarassing, to my girls. And they enjoy it immensely. Why not, right? I mean, who else can dish mommy like that if not Grandma?
I played around with the placements and once I'm happy, I laid a 3.5" strip of the Window Seat Paper. That grid paper is yummy in so many ways! I use some removable adhesive to hole the paper down while I poke holes using the grids as my guideline. This is when you can choose larger grids or smaller ones. Go with your fancy.
Once I have all the holes poked. I then start playing with the background. I used the Polka Dot stamp from Watercolor Add On that we all love so much! Can you see the poked holes?
Then it's time to mist! I played with a lot of mist on this one. Building layer after layer until I get the color that I want. That Calico White Mister Huey is oh so yummy! Nothing like it outside there! Have you got yours? It's in the shop, you know that, right? LOL.
Let it dry. Then it's time to get your twine out and stitch! You can also use Jute for this purpose, or even normal embroidery thread. I used two different colors for my grids. Fun!
Then I went about adding more Studio Calico goodness to my layout. Lots of it! Close ups below:
Supplies; Patterned Paper - Documentary Window Seat, Anthology Bouquet, Documentary Holiday; Rub Ons - Tweets Woodgrain, SC Doilies, Cameras Gray; Chipboard Accent- Crate Paper; Mists - Mister Huey's Calico White, Maya Mist BubbleGum Metallic, Maya Mist Lemon Metallic, Maya Mist Buttermilk, Maya Mist Cream Metallic; Polka Dot Stamp - Studio Calico; Brads - Basic Grey; Making Memories Slice Digital Cutter + Noteworthy design card; Twine; Rhinestone
I hope you enjoy this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together with you. If you have any questions, you can leave a comment here or look for me at the forum
