Hi everyone...just wanted to share a way to use those scraps you can't bear to part with when you *think* you're done with a kit.
This is my desk after a kit moves it's way through...chaos is the only word that comes to mind, lol. Bits and pieces everywhere, ideas that may have seemed right, but didn't quite 'work'. Sure I can't wait to sweep the whole pile of snippets into the trash once I've decided what I want to keep and what I can part with...but in the throes of creativity, neat is not a word I would choose to describe my method.
The darned 7gypsies Padington number tags kept begging to be used...I left them front and center on my desk. Hmmm...and I also see some of the KI die cut paper, and a strip of one of the Sassafras exclusive papers...and those Making Memories papers.
Just a leftover die-cut edge of this one...
And a few punched circles from here...
I couldn't let that lovely vintage floral design go to waste from this sheet...
so I cut it out.
I decided to use bits of these papers...I tore them away from the sheets they were designed on and found them way easier to use that way. By lining them up against each other, they contrasted nicely!
As for those tags, the size and shape of them didn't quite fit the page proportions...no matter how I tried. So I grabbed my Postage Stamp Punch and assaulted them, lol...problem solved.
In the end I had cut a few of the purple circles from the Crate Paper in Park Bench and sprinkled them along the open space...and here is how it all turned out.
Supplies: Metropolitan Kit; Punches - Fiskars Postage Stamp, Postage Stamp Border; Paddington Tags
So next time you have a few favorite bits you can't part with, try using them together!!
My eyes are popping out of my head looking at your desk! LOL. Sorry. :-p LOL. I love that you get all 'down and dirty' with your kit! :-D
Love the bits and pieces on this layout, Nicole!
p.s. What's weird... in my Google Reader, it says this post is titled "Insider Tips by Nicole Samuels." And then I click on the link to comment, and that title isn't shown here (and Nik H is in the photo!). LOL. Ah well. :-p Enjoyed this post! :-D
