This week sketch comes from Amy Tan's CENTRAL HIGH gallery - it's based on her layout titled "The 2 of Us Grew Up in Chicago."

We loved Amy's big title and photostrip and couldn't wait to see how SC member Carolee (cvharris) would use it!

Supply list: Central High Kit Digital Stamp Brushes and Light
Bulb cut files by Studio Calico. Layout was created using
Photoshop CS5. All other digital elements used were created by
the designers at The Lilypad
I am a digital
scrapper, and my layouts generally have small amounts of paper
and large amounts of white space, so Amy's sketch put me out
of my comfort zone. I loved the design and the challenge of
doing something different, so I decided to stay pretty true to
the sketch. My biggest challenge was figuring out how to fill
the large paper blocks. I wanted to use some papers with a
bold and bright color palette, so I needed something light and
subtle to coordinate with them and provide some balance. I
used the chevron brush from the Central High kit digital brush
set and some misting brushes to stamp the surrounding papers
for a softer complementary look. When I saw this cute light
bulb cut file, I thought it'd be the perfect focal point for
the page. I used the .png file and kept most of it in black
to form a visual triangle with the other black elements on the
page.
I love how bold and funky Carolee's layout is - and how fun is her use of the "hello" lightbulb? Carolee followed Amy's sketch pretty closely, but her color choices made her page feel 100% different. If you'd like to see more of Carolee's work, you can visit
her Studio Calico gallery. Thanks for sharing your work with us, Carolee!!
Now it's YOUR turn to show us how you'll use the sketch. Whether it's a
layout , a card or something else, link us
up to your project by September 10th for a chance to win a $5 gift
card to the
Studio Calico shop.

Great sketch, I tweaked it quite a bit, but still loved using the long row of photo booth type photos.
