We couldn't wait to see how SC member Heathyr (tenmylove) would put her own spin on it :
Supplies: Kit - Elmwood Park ; Wood Veneer - Hearts + Arrows ; mist - Mister. Huey's Pony ;
adhesive - American Crafts Foam Dots
Heathyr says : I have a secret... creating layouts based on sketches is my favorite way to scrapbook. Having that "rough draft" means I spend less time thinking and more time scrapping! I was so excited to learn that the sketch was based on Geralyn's wonderful layout as she has provided me with so much inspiration over the past few years. I knew from the get-go that I wanted to keep my title centered like she had, but I wasn't sure how the rest would pan out. I usually don't leave much white space on my layouts, so I started by filling up the entire page with varying sized square shapes. Sometimes I scrap a little too cleanly so I tilted the main section off to the side a bit to give the layout some interest; adding the October Afternoon mini-flyer embellishments to the top brought the entire page together. Thank you Studio Calico for giving me the opportunity to play along with this awesome sketch!
How fun is Heathyr's use of embellishments on this page? The veneer shapes take on such a rich color from the mist, and the groups of Queen and Co goosebumps add a lot of texture. Thanks for sharing this layout with us, Heathyr! If you'd like to see more of her work, check out her Studio Calico gallery or her blog.
Now it's YOUR turn to show us how you'll use the sketch. Whether it's a layout (two pages or one!), a card or something else, link us up to your project by August 13th for a chance to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico shop.
