This week's sketch comes from Jen Jockisch's Summer of '69 gallery - it's based on her layout entitled artist.

We loved Jen's layers, and couldn't wait to see what Studio Calico member Shanna Noel would do with it!

Supply List : patterned paper - Amy Tangerine, Basic Grey ; 6x6 paper pad : Studio Calico
Classic Calico Vol 2 ; alphabet- American Crafts Thickers, Clever Handmade Polka Dot Alph ; labels : Studio Calico Scrap Pad ; wood veneer : Studio Calico asterisk ; Washi tape - Freckled Fawn, Heidi Swapp ; mist - Studio Calico
Mister Huey's Watercooler, Bonny Blue, Bluegrass, Powder Blue, Heirloom Blue and Custard.
Right when I saw this great sketch all the circles jumped out and me and I knew I wanted to run with that. I actually started making this layout in the same format as the sketch but when I was struggling with it a little bit, I simply started rotating the whole sketch on my base piece of paper until it felt right to me, with the products I was using - then I went from there! I love using the wood veneer as a mask, and then followed that design to the large circle in the sketch with an asterick negitive cut out. I can't wait to see what you guys do with this fun sketch! :)
I love how Shanna took Jen's layered and romantic page and switched it up for her own graphic style. Tilting the main block within the sketch gave her page a fun and playful feeling.
Thanks for sharing your work with us this week, Shanna! If you'd like to see more of Shanna's work, stop by
her blog or
her gallery here at Studio Calico.
Now it's YOUR turn to show us how you'll use the sketch. Whether it's a layout (two pages or one!), a card or something else, link us up to your project by August 6th for a chance to win a $5 gift card to the
Studio Calico shop.
Wow, that is gorgeous Shanna!
