Hi all! Nicole S. here with your weekly challenge...and I think this could be a really fun one. At least I hope so! My kids' school recently celebrated Dr. Suess' birthday with special readings from his books, green eggs and ham served at lunch, and even some Cat in the Hat hats for the kindergarteners. We've always enjoyed Dr. Suess books in this house and when I saw a post of some of his quotes on Pinterest, I thought that might make for a fun scrapping challenge. So my challenge to you this week is to use a Dr. Suess quote or line from one of his books on a scrapbooking layout or card. Here's the list I saw on Pinterest:
And of course if you google "Dr. Suess quotes" you will find a ton more!
For my page I used the "more you read" quote. First I created a silhouette frame with the quote inside and cut that out. Next, I decided that I wanted my page to be colorful, like Dr. Suess' books, so I got out a bunch of my mists and started playing. Here's what I came up with first using all those mists, some water, and little rectangles of Cut-N-Dry Foam.
I adhered my framed quote on top of the mist streaks and trimmed it down before adhering it to my background patterned paper. Finally I added my photo and some odds and ends. :)
Supplies: patterned paper: Classic Calico Wag and Take Note Cubicle; cardstock: Bazzill; stickers: Abroad mini letter stickers and Take Note badge; Mister Huey's: Gable Green, Bonny Blue, Estate Green, Lunch Tray, Clover, Dewey, Heirloom Blue, Pickle; die cutting machine: Silhouette Cameo; other: Cut-N-Dry Foam, star punch, brads, washi tape
I hope you can play along... I think these quotes make a fun starting point for a page. Post your layout to the Studio Calico gallery and link them here by March 19th for your chance to win an SC gift cardCan't wait to see what you come up with!
