I absolutely loved working with Nik's sketch this week because the negative space steals my heart every time! I stayed pretty true to the sketch even though when I started out, I totally thought it was going to go a different direction- so weird how that happens right?!
Supply List: Papers- Autumn Press: scarf, steamer trunk, fall fashion. Classic Calico: dot one, Cardstock- American Crafts: vanilla, Other SC supplies- die cut tags, chipboard butterflies, butterfly masks, Mister Huey's: Overdue, Cameo, Piglet
A few customizations/substitutions I made on my layout were with the journaling, the elements at the top and the banner border...for the journaling- i had a lot more to say about Bri's makeup experiment than I thought I would (I initially planned on writing in the big butterfly only but I goofed and ran out of room) so I added a few more lines above the title (so it ended up falling in line with the sketch, ha!) The layout and placement of the elements at the top of the page is still pretty similar to the sketch only squeezed a little tighter because I have a hard time with 'edge to edge' elements...I love how it looks for an entire edge of a page to be full but for some odd reason- I am terrible at executing it. The final little tweak was with the banners- I don't have a good explanation for that other than the fact that I've been wanting to play with the fall fashion and steamer trunk papers from Autumn Press...LOVE the pattern on these! I decided to make a border out of them so I just handcut a strip of pattern from each paper and then used my craft knife to cut out the centers. I overlapped and glued them into place and then backed them with the scarf Autumn Press paper and I love how it turned out.
