Sunday Sketch

Happy Sunday, Y'all! This is Stephanie, and I'm here to share a brand new Sunday sketch with you! This week, I was given the pleasure of lifting April's amazing layout. This is one of my favorite layouts April has ever done and it was an honor to lift it.

I chose to convert this sketch to a 12x12 layout. I also flipped it and put the photos along the top. I had scraps of the new Memoir line left, and punching them into 1 1/2" circles was the perfect way to use them. You can tell I only had scraps left by the fact that I had to use the negatives of the purple memoir alpha stickers. HA! Waste not want not,right? I layered punched circles instead of using scalloped trim or a border punch.
I'm so happy I finally found the opportunity to scrap these sweet photos!

Insider Tips: Maggie

I've recently become obsessed with taking photos on my phone and there are a few things that have contributed to this:

 

1. The fact that I have a new baby and I am wanting to take photos of her every second.
2. The fact that I always have my phone with me so it always ready and accessible.
3. The fact that it makes my twitter and facebook posts so much more fun when there is a photo.
4. The fact that I can easily edit them and make them look super cool using Instagram.
5. And the fact that I am loving all of the fun moments I am capturing of my kids and us as a family that I wouldn't normally capture.

A while back I talked about how I loaded a bunch of my phone pictures into Iphoto on my computer and printed them here at home. I have scrapbooked a lot of them and still have more and I have been loving that they are right here and ready to go. Well, I just found an even easier way to print the pictures from my phone and that's what I wanted to share with you today! It's an app called postalpix! You don't have to load your photos onto your computer or anything. You just go into the app, select your pictures, complete your order and within a couple of days they are delivered in your mailbox!!! So fun right?
My favorite part is that they have prints that are 4"x4" which is the perfect size for printing all of your photos from instagram since they are already cropped to a square. The paper that they are printed on is a little different than what I am used to getting from Costco or Mpix, but considering the fact that most of the pictures I take are your typical "phone quality" photos (not perfect, a little blurry, etc), it works for me!

I love the fact that now I have all of these printed out and ready to scrapbook and I can keep sending in orders whenever I have a new batch of photos to print. In fact I am expecting another set of pictures tomorrow! So excited!
Try them out! If you love taking photos on your phone but don't ever get around to loading and printing them, this is perfect for you and I think you will love it as much as I do! You will be seeing lots of these prints on my scrapbook pages from now on. In fact I used them on all of my layouts for the August gallery!!

Tutorial

Confetti images have been so popular lately on my Pinterest feed, that I thought I would try to carry over the trend to a scrapbook layout.  To do that, I used a fairly neutral background (the package to Countryside’s Die Cut Tags).
Cover your background with a layer of Mod Podge.  When choosing your background, it’s best to start with a size larger than the final size you’d like.  Here, I didn’t need to cover the edges with Mod Podge since it’s larger than I needed.
Next, I used my swiss dot punch on a piece of patterned paper found in July’s Kit, MIND THE GAP.  While punching, I held it over my background so as the circles fell, they would stick to the Mod Podge in a random arrangement. Supplies: Cardstock (Bazzill); Patterned Paper (Studio Calico); Veneer Button (Studio Calico); Fabric Brad, Metal Pieces, Seam Binding (MIND THE GAP, FLAT)

Challenge

Hello SC friends! Kelly here, with a challenge for you this week. I love finding different ways to use patterned paper. Embellishments are great, but a lot of times for me, it’s the patterned paper that can create lots of interest on the page. The new SC papers are perfect for this! When I first saw this paper from the new Memoir line, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. I picked a row of flowers to cut around and used my super sharp Cutterbees and went to work. Then, I just used some AC foam circles to pop the patterned paper up layered over the grid paper. Super quick and easy to do and so much more interesting than just cutting the paper straight across, right? :)
Supplies: Memoir Flower Bed paper, Memoir Love Bird paper, Memoir Heirloom paper, Memoir 6x6 paper pad, Memoir 12x12 Alpha Stickers, Memoir Chipboard Buttons, Memoir Die Cut Tags, Memoir Teal 6x6 Label Stickers, State Fair Blue Chipboard Allpha

So, my challenge for you this week is to do something fun and interesting with patterned paper. Cut it up, fold it, make a flower, pop it up…anything goes, as long as it’s something fun and different! I look forward to seeing what you all create!

Blog Blitz

With the CHA Summer 2011 show now in the history books the wait begins for the new Studio Calico products to start arriving at your Local Scrapbook Store or favorite online retailer! To say we were overwhelmed at the positive response the three new lines received at the show might be an understatement.

Sunday Sketch

Hi everyone! Sasha here with your Sunday Sketch for this week :) This one is based on Waleska's Life Amid layout from the Mind The Gap gallery.

I simply adore Waleska's clean and colorful style, not to mention the delightful grid-like design. Here's my take on it :)
Supplies: Teal Cardstock (American Crafts), More White, Rub Ons (Studio Calico) - Cameras Blue; Grey Buttons; Tweets Pink Ledger; Cloud Woodgrain; Cloud Blue Graph; Typeset Grey; Typeset Orange, Patterned Paper (Studio Calico) London Calling, Stamps (Studio Calico) Mini Months and  Heart, Stitched blossoms, Alpha stickers (Sassafrass Lass), Toothpick Flag & Buttons(Pebbles), Brads (Making Memories), Number Stickers (Studio Calico) - Addy Alpha Green, Filmstrip Ribbon & Tiny Attacher(Tim Holtz); Needle, Thread.

I stitched some grid on my cardstock, because I know I will have fun adding little bits here and there. Imitating the sketch, I used five small photos but changed their placings somewhat. I love how the grids contain the 'craziness' but not too rigidly.

Some closer look at my layout:

You can see that I 'color' outside the lines a lot, but that is the fun in using a sketch as a jumpstart for your layout. You get to change it up and have fun! I did! :)
